About the Event
Park Work Party 4/15 from 10 AM–1:00 PM
Do you enjoy Mirrormont Park? If so, we need your help! During the pandemic, King County limited our work parties to only a handful of people. Thanks go to Park Stewards for their dedication in maintaining our park for the past three years. According to our agreement with King County, we bear partial responsibility for this.
Top priority goals are: Safety. Have fun. Community building. And get these long-delayed jobs done:
SPRING CLEAN-UP:
- Removing storm debris and ladder fuels, and making piles along the street for Chipper Days.
- Weeding the dogwood berm by the entrance to the meadow.
RESTORATION:
- Removing Himalayan blackberries from the edges of the meadow and along the streets.
- Using a weed wrench to remove English hollies scattered throughout the woods.
- Removing yellow archangel (lamium) and English ivy.
REFRESHMENTS & ADMIN: We need a couple people to handle refreshments and check in volunteers.
If fear of bears has kept you from exploring Mirrormont Park, our upcoming work party is a great opportunity. There will be no chance of encounters with bears. They are lazy and don’t like to work.
MEET by the picnic tables in the meadow to check in.
BRING gloves, shovels, trowels, hori-horis, pruners, loppers and hand saws if you have them. If not, we can borrow tools from the Pea Patch. Please let us know if you are available for all or part of the day so we can be sure to have enough snacks for all. Or come spontaneously!
NOTE: Everyone will need to sign a hold harmless form (including parent of children)
CONTACT for questions or to RSVP: Meg Wade at Park@Mirrormont.org or Linda Shepherd at PeaPatch@Mirrormont.org
Thank you, and best wishes to all in Mirrormont!
